Peterson feels effects of government shutdown

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- About 2,200 civilians on PAFB have been recalled from furlough Oct. 7.
As part of the civilian recall from furlough, many on-base services previously affected are now fully operational.

The following services are operating as normal:

- Child Development Center and School Age Programs
- Exchange facilities
- All military pay functions
- Military Personnel Section (e.g. ID cards)
- Legal services, including legal assistance
- Base fire and emergency response services
- The base dining facility
- Airman Leadership School
- CMAFS/SAFB shuttles
- Medical services, including ancillary services such as Pharmacy, Laboratory and Radiology
- 21st Security Forces Squadron will continue all law enforcement and security functions
- Non-appropriated (NAF) functions such as the Club, Fitness Center, Aquatic Center, Golf Course, Lodging, Bowling Alley, Outdoor Recreation/ITT, and Aero Club
- Professional development classes and First Term Airman Center (FTAC)
- Casualty/Mortuary Affairs
- Defense Red Switch support
- Voice and network services as normal
- Network and system administration
- Official mail service
- Civilian pay services
- Civilian Personnel Section
- Manpower Office
- Open Recreation (pre-teen/teen program) and Youth Sports
- All education and testing capability (PME/CDC testing, counseling and TA support)
- Airman and Family Readiness Center
- Passports processing
- Commissary
- Information Technology Equipment warehouse activities (ADPE inventories, DRMO, order receipt, consumable issue, e.g. toner cartridges)

The following services are closed during the government shutdown:

- The Peterson Air & Space Museum
- Base Library

Base patrons are encouraged to remain patient as operations at these locations may be very busy. It is still recommended to call ahead before proceeding to a customer service area.
Other events are still impacted by the government shutdown. They include:

- Deployed Families Dinner for October was reschedlued Oct. 18.
