Absentee Voters Week: 30 Days and Counting

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Tuesday, Nov. 4 is Election Day. Federal Mid-term elections are only 34 days away. If you've registered to vote and haven't yet received your absentee ballot from your home state, now is the time to act.  Absentee Voters Week is Sept. 29 to Oct. 6.  This is such a vital issue, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has created a Youtube message about the importance of voting absentee. Here's the official link:

During Absentee Voters Week, you'll hear from your voting assistance officers on base.  They'll be sending you a blank copy of the federal write in absentee ballot - the FWAB - for you to use if you have not already received your ballot from your home state. They'll also include a link and some hints to assist you with the Federal Voting Assistance Program website ( ), where you can use the online assistant to fill out and forward the FWAB to your hometown voting office. Please take action--don't wait to the last minute and lose the opportunity to cast your ballot.

Help is also available right here on base.  Our Installation Voter Assistance Office is co-located with the Peterson Museum in building 982, with its entrance off Suffolk Street near Dover Street.  If you can't make it to the Voting Office, then please call Gail Whalen at 556-5543 for direct assistance, or to obtain the phone number to your Unit Voting Assistance Officer, who is also ready to help you exercise your right to vote.  You can also email the voting office at

Remember, "Send your vote home!"
