Cop’s Corner – January 2016

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- During January, the 21st Security Forces Squadron, along with facility parking wardens issued 42 traffic citations. Speed infractions comprised of the majority of the citations, followed by parking infractions. Driving privileges were suspended or revoked for 9 individuals. Infractions causing the suspension consisted of an off-base alcohol offense, careless and reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, license and registration violations, and excessive speed.

Parking - Parking is permitted in designated locations only. Vehicle registrants may be cited for a variety of parking violations, to include "double-parking," unauthorized parking (handicapped or reserved spots), parking on landscaped areas or outside of a marked parking spot. Additionally, vehicles parking in controlled or restricted areas and vehicles causing a safety hazard may be cited and towed at the owner's expense. Installation driving privileges may be suspended for repeated parking offenses.

Calls for Service - Security Forces responded to about 123 calls for service during January, including:
- 46 alarm responses
- 15 medical responses
- 8 motor vehicle accidents

Remember you PIN - A majority of Security Forces responses are to alarm activations caused by human error. While we realize your PIN may seem like just another number to remember, we ask you to consider a simple slip of your finger can trigger an otherwise unnecessary security force response.
