Cooler times ahead at Peterson Fitness Center

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Over the next few months the Peterson Air Force Base Fitness Center is undergoing some much needed repairs to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

"This was long overdue," said Roger Hill, Fitness and Sports manager at Peterson AFB. "We've been having some cold winters and hot summers, and hopefully this will change once we get this new system in."

Members of Team Pete should be prepared for some inconveniences as fitness areas are temporarily closed to allow for these renovations to the HVAC system.

The first area affected is the center's racquetball courts and adjacent locker rooms in building 570, this section is due to remain closed from Apr. 12-29.

Given the size of the facility, gym goers shouldn't have to worry about being adversely impacted by these repairs. Hill assures patrons that the center will set out signs around the gym advertising in advance when and for how long an area is expected to be closed.

"We're trying to give everyone a good heads up so they can prepare for the area closures," said Hill.

During the time the project is underway fitness center staff would like to ask that gym patrons have patience while they work to make the center better for everyone.

"There's going to be some hot times, and some humid ones during this process," said Hill. "But hopefully getting this system up and running will put an end to that."

The estimated completion date for the entire project is Oct. 14.
