2013 Caring for People Forum scheduled for April

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- The Air Force instituted the Caring for People Forum in 2009 as a way to receive military community feedback for action, review and resolution. The forum has been successful not only in achieving the initial goal of strengthening support services, but also in relaying messages of service gaps directly to senior leadership.

As a result of prior Air Force-level forums, significant strides have been made to improve support services to Airmen and their family members. These include enhanced support for school-age military children and their parents with school liaison officers, and the Exceptional Family Member Program family support coordinator positions at installations, such as Peterson AFB, with high numbers of families with special needs.

The Caring for People concept would not succeed without input from our military community. This year's forum will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 26 at various locations throughout Building 350. The forum will consist of seven working groups where participants will identify concerns with, or gaps in, policy and/or community support issues. Issues specific to Peterson AFB will be monitored and resolved at the installation level through the Community Action Information Board, chaired by Col. Chris Crawford, 21st Space Wing commander.

The working groups selected for the 2013 Peterson AFB Caring for People Forum are: military spouses, EFMP families, youth/school-age, retirees, civilian employees, health and wellness, and single Airmen (all ranks). Working groups will consist of 10-12 participants and be led by trained facilitators. Lunch will be provided.

We invited you to be a working group participant at this year's forum and make a difference in our military community!
